LECTURER: Prof. Vladimir Gerdjikov, Institute for Advanced Physical Studies

TIME: 15.06.2017 /THURSDAY/ 18:00

VENUE: NEW BULGARIAN UNIVERSITY, HALL 405, BUILDING 2

The brief history of solitons from their birth will be reported as well as how the conceptions about these exceptional non-linear waves evolved in time. We discuss how the knowledge about solitons further accelerated the development of physics and mathematics.

Prof. Vladimir Gerdjikov is a renowned scientist in the fields of soliton theory, Lie algebras and integrable systems. He authored more than 200 publications including the monograph V. S. Gerdjikov, G. Vilasi, A. B. Yanovski. Integrable Hamiltonian Hierarchies. Spectral and Geometric Methods Lecture Notes in Physics 748, Springer Verlag, Berlin, Heidelberg, New York.
